Richard W. "Rick" Nagel
2014 Candidate for Herndon Town Council
I am writing to ask for your support and your vote in the Town of Herndon election which will take place on May 6, 2014, at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Avenue.
I have lived, worked, and volunteered in Herndon since 2008 and have been a resident of Fairfax County from 2001. Public service has been the cornerstone of my life, serving the public professionally in several roles for over 15 years.
As your councilmember, I will work to move Herndon forward. I believe Herndon should be sought after by both families and businesses as a desirable place to live and work. I will work collaboratively with my colleagues, businesses, residents, and others by planning for Metro, which is an investment in our future, and revitalizing downtown attracting both businesses and consumers. These policies will increase the tax base, reduce the burden on homeowners, and increase property values.
As a former police officer, I understand the importance for communities and their children to feel safe. As a former Fairfax County magistrate, I was the impartial third party that stood between law enforcement and the citizens of Herndon and Fairfax County, protecting civil and constitutional rights. As the current Vice Chairman of the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB), I act in an advisory capacity to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors as they craft the county budget, which enables Fairfax County to continue to provide excellent services to its citizens, while at the same time, delivering a balanced budget in tough economic times.
I ask for your support and your vote on May 6, 2014. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or (703) 863-6742 if you have an issue you would like to discuss.
I look forward to hearing from you and working with you as your new councilmember.
